Flash alert – Covid-19 Pandemic in Myanmar: Details of 11 January Cases

Yesterday evening at 20:00 hrs, the MoHS announced that 582 new Covid-19 cases had been identified. Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, 131,186 people have been tested positive to Covid-19 and 2,858 people have died from it. At 17:00 Hrs today, the MoHS released the spatial breakdown of those 582 cases:

In Yangon Region, 165 new cases were reported, i.e. 84,967 cases since March 2020. Yesterday, the main surge took place in Mingaladon (+14 cases), Dagon East (+14) and Thingangyun (+13). North Okkalapa and Mingaladon remain the most-affected townships, with more than 5,800 cases each.
In Mandalay Region, 143 new cases were reported, i.e. 15,017 cases since March 2020. Yesterday, the main surge took place in Chan Mya Tharzi (+26 cases), Chan Aye Tharzan (+20), and Amarapura (+18). Chan Aye Tharzan, Aung Myay Tharzan and Maha Aung Myay Townships remain the most-affected areas, with more than 2,300 cases each.
